Management Profiles
Henry Fingleton.
Twelve years ago, having had 5 or 6 skiing holidays, I admitted that my ski addiction was no longer controllable and so my family and I decamped to the mountains for a season in order to train as a ski instructor. That year (one of the best of my life so far!) I completed my CSIA (Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance) Level 1 and 2 instructor courses which qualified me to teach skiing in lots of different countries.
The following season we returned to Andorra, where I worked full-time for the Soldeu ski school. Since then I have spent each winter in the mountains and improved my ski instructor qualifications up to CSIA level 3, Race Coach (CSCF) 1 and 2 and BASI (British Association of Snowsports Instructors) level 3, ISIA (International Ski Instructors Association). I am at present training for my IASI (Irish Association of Ski Instructors) my CSIA level 4 and my European Speed Test.
My passion for skiing is contagious. My wife, oldest son, brother and brother-in-law have all since qualified as ski instructors. We suspect we hold the Irish record for “Most Ski Instructors in One Family!”
I now concentrate on training high-end skiers and those preparing for instructor exams. I am interested in all aspects of ski skill development including general fitness training, nutrition, equipment and psychology.
I hope you come and train with us and share our passion for the mountains, the snow and the adrenaline.

I first started skiing twenty-five years ago. A friend arranged a ski holiday to Schladming in Austria for a group of mates and was let down at the last moment by one of them so he approached me to fill the vacant spot. I was a little reluctant at first but he managed to persuade me that it would be worth the cost, and it was I had a fantastic holiday and caught the skiing bug immediately. Since then I’ve never gone a year without sometime on the snow.
Fifteen years ago, after my first full season, I qualified as a Second level ski instructor with the British Association of Ski Instructors. The following season I applied for several ski instructor jobs all over Europe. I was offered a position with the Soldeu Ski School in Andorra. Never having heard of Andorra, I had to look the place up on a map. However, with a little research I soon learnt that the Soldeu Ski School, with close to 100 native English speakers was the largest English speaking ski school in the whole of Europe and had a superb reputation for instructor training. The resort has 300 days of sun per year and was famous for its apres ski scene, so the decision was made. I’ve worked as a full-time ski instructor and trainer every season since. I take my personal development, as both a skier and teacher of skiing, very seriously. In 2006, I qualified as an instructor trainer and examiner with the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance.
I’m extremely proud to be part of Pro Ski Training, its philosophy, ethics, quality and professionalism. I very much look forward to sharing my knowledge, passion and experience with you on one of our courses or programmes.
