Ski Instructor Training & Certification at Level One.

Pro Ski Mini GAP YEAR 5 week ski instructor certification course - Level 1

This five week course is closely linked to our flagship 12 week programme in Soldeu, Andorra, and is designed to take you through an entry level instructor certification.  This intensive training programme provides an excellent development opportunity, in an ideal environment, to prepare you for an entry level ski instructor qualification. To date, we have a 100% pass rate on this course, and we fully intend to match that success again in the 2016 season. Stunning value at just 2950€ per person.

You can also opt for 1, 2, 3 and 4 week module based options.

Five week level one GAP Course will run from Sunday 3rd January 2016 until Saturday 6th February 2016 in Soldeu.

BASIC 5 WEEK COURSE FEE (2950 €uro) INCLUDES:

  • Initial 15 hour training course, (Week 1),
  • Goal Setting and Action Planning Session, (Week 1),
  • Eight hours on-hill ski instruction per week, (Weeks 2 to 4),
  • Three weeks of structured class shadowing, 15 hours per week,
  • Video sessions,
  • Regular “off-snow” analysis and feedback forums,
  • Indoor teaching and pedagogy clinics,
  • A 2-hour race clinic, (Week 3),
  • Hand picked ISIA level and race coach qualified training instructor,
  • Maximum on snow ratio of 6 students to 1 training instructor,
  • Advice and assistance on which system and what exams to consider (Exams take place w/c 3 Feb 2014),
  • Ski service and equipment preparation clinics (week 1),
  • Entry-Level Instructor Examination Fees,
  • Lift pass.

NOT INCLUDED:

Giving you the flexibility  to select what best suits your individual needs and circumstances, we have purposefully reduced the Basic Course Fee and excluded the items listed below.  This will allow you to get the very best local deals and rates available. We can recommend all options available to you when discussing your requirements.

  • Travel costs to and from the resort,
  • Board and Lodging,
  • Registration and Membership fees of chosen ski instructor association.

Course Pre requisites:

● You should feel comfortable skiing parallel on red runs as a minimum standard before you begin the twelve week GAP course. If you feel you’re not quite there, but you’re determined to work towards becoming a qualified ski pro, you could take advantage of our advanced skier programme before the course. This will certainly provide you with a solid platform and experience to help propel you in the right direction.

● YOU MUST BE OVER 18 YEARS OF AGE ON 3RD JANUARY 2016 TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR A PLACE ON THIS COURSE. ADDITIONALLY, CANDIDATES UNDER 23 YEARS MUST SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE A CYBER INTERVIEW PROCESS (typically via Skype or FaceTime) BEFORE THEY WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR A PLACE ON THIS COURSE.

Optional Extras:

The following, optional extras, are not included in the original course price, however, can easily be organised and included within the programme for the additional costs shown. They provide an excellent opportunity to supplement your seasons experience.

  • French or Spanish conversation classes (Group) – 15 €*/hr,
  • French or Spanish conversation classes (Individual) – 30 €*/hr,

  • Winter First Aid course – 90 €*

Modular based – Level One Options.

Perfect for recreational skiers, who feel that they have “out-grown” ski school, who would like their talent and ability level to be recognised by one of the ski industry’s leading certification organisations, the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA).

This modular based programme, allows you to choose the appropriate volume of training, to suit your individual development needs, towards taking the CSIA Level One Examination in the final week. You can select a 10 day (inc. 4 day exam) option or a three week option (two weeks training followed by 4 day exam). There is also a four  week “mini gap” option available. You can build a training programme based around the modules listed below. (Note: this programme is dependent on a minimum number of participants/places  available basis, so please feel free to contact us to discuss your individual requirements).

Skill Development Training Module (technical development focus)

(15 HRS) COST 300 €uro PER WEEK.

INCLUDED:

  • 15 hours of intensive training per week over 5 days,
  • Goal setting and the formulation of an Action Plan,
  • Video sessions,
  • Hand picked ISIA level and race coach qualified training instructor.

For the skill development training module, you join fellow course participants and focus on technical skiing development. This module begins on Tuesday and runs each afternoon, until Friday, with a full day on Saturday. It has been specifically designed to develop your skiing towards the required standards of the CSIA level one, in a high quality focused environment.

Class Shadowing Module (teaching focus)

(15 HRS) COST 140 €uro PER WEEK

In close association with the Soldeu Ski School and the CSIA, your timetable will neatly fit in with current ski school schedules, allowing you to opt to receive structured individual class shadowing, each morning. You will be teamed up with a top qualified and experienced instructor as they manage a group through a 15 hour, five day ski week. This is a fantastic opportunity to get an insight into thinking of the instructor, the tactics and techniques they employ as they develop the group through a ski week. It provides invaluable preparation before any ski teaching examination. Class shadowing takes place each morning 10am until 1pm, Mon to Fri and acts as a superb complement to the additional 18 hour ski development training that takes place in the afternoons.

INCLUDED:

  • Five  x 3 hour class shadowing sessions,
  • Daily briefing from qualified ski teaching instructor trainer.

Level One Examination Module

(22 HRS) COST 390 €uro.

The CSIA Level One Course, in your final week, is a 22 hour continuous assessment and training course over 4 days.

INCLUDED:

  • all examination registration fees,
  • all course manuals.
  • all documentation,
  • one years membership fees to the CSIA.

All pre exam training that you opt to take with Pro Ski Training, can be tailored to you individual needs, including class shadowing (140 €uro supplement).
